A trek designed for those who enjoy high altitude lakes of spiritual significance as well as beautiful mountain-scapes of tall Himalayan magnitude. Over eight days, we will move from Kathmandu in an experience of local buses, reaching our trek destination and quickly gaining 2500m in altitude in two days, crossing pine forests, gazing at Panoramic views of the Himalayas, and finally arriving at the spiritually significant Gosaikunda Lake and making our way back down to the capital. A trek intended for those who like a variety of trekking beauties in a short yet demanding time frame.

The most suitable seasons for this trek are Autumn (September to December) and Spring (March to May) when the summer monsoon rains, and the extreme cold of the winter are not an issue. However, for travellers who are happy to compromise pleasant weather conditions in order to trek in off-season conditions when the trails are less busy, winter (December to February) and summer (June to August) options are available.

Day 2: Kathmandu to Dhunche

In a day of public transportation, we will experience local Nepali buses in an 8 hour drive up to Dhunche (1920m) where the trek will start. The drive will go through many terrains of Nepal, starting from Kathmandu, driving through the hills, terrace fields, green valleys and more, with views of some giant Himalayan mountains such as Mount Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and Langtang. Upon arrival in Dhunche, we will lodge overnight at this destination, gearing up for the trek ahead.

Day 3: Dhunche to Sing Gompa

In a day of steep yet satisfying ascend, we will gain 1300m of height as we walk for 5 hours, crossing Trisuli River and green pine forests, on toward Chandanbari and finally Sing Gompa (3220m) where we will stay for the night.

4

Day 4: Sing Gompa to Lauribinayek

Another day of ascent is spent in similar landscapes where we cross pine forests on the way up to Cholang Paty. After 3 hours of trekking and upon arrival at Lauribinayek (4380) where we spend the rest of the day, beautiful panoramic views can be enjoyed with a sight offering peaks from Langtang to Annapurna.

Day 5: : Lauribinayek to Gosaikunda Lake to Lauribinayek

On this day, we will trek up to the main attraction of the trek, being the lakes of Gosaikunda where we will spend some hours enjoying the beauty and understanding the cultural and spiritual significance of this location. After, we will trek back down to Lauribinayek and spend the night here before starting the journey back the next day.

6

Day 6: Lauribinayek to Dhunche

What was a difficult steep trek on the way up becomes easily achievable on the way down as we lose over 2200m of altitude in this day of trekking back through the forests on toward Dhunche where we will stay for the night, before heading back to the capital on the next day.

7

Day 7: Dhunche to Kathmandu

We will take the same route taken earlier through the local bus as we travel back to city life and leave the vistas of Gosaikunda Lake but bring back fond memories of beautiful Himalayan scenery. Overnight, we will lodge at a guesthouse and make sure you make the most of the comforts of modern Kathmandu life.

I travelled to Nepal last year to trek in Langtang national park and into the Tsum/Nubri area last April. We were guided by Dinesh Karki who works for Snowyoda Expeditions and he took excellent care of all our needs especially when we were affected by the 2015 earthquake. Both treks were fabulous and so beautiful. Although both areas were badly damaged there is still trekking happening and it is very worthwhile.

No words to explain this much Natural Beauty. Must go place! Beautiful Mountains along the way. This lake lies at the height of 4300 meters above the sea level. Very adventurous and sometimes scary paths but worthy. Some issues regarding Snowyoda , we had to cancel the bus because of a heavy rainfall , so we were not provided adequate reimbursement.

The trek was fine with good views of the lake . We could have chosen a more longer trek as this was a very short one . But in the end all was fine .
