You    can    expect    temperatures    up    to    -20    degrees    to    -25    degrees.    This    temperature    
is    in    the    higher    altitudes    after    Dingboche    and    Lobuche    towards    EBC    and

there    are    snow    storms or    during    winters    in    months    like    November    and

So    it    is    imperative    to    come    prepared    for    the    lower    temperatures    with    
appropriate    gear    like    Down    jackets,    gloves    .    woolen    socks,    thermal    caps    etc    .

Trekking    gear    in    Kathmandu    can    be    rented    but    is    limited    to    Sleeping    bags.    The    
shopkeepers    are    reluctant    to    rent    down    jackets    and    other    stuff    as    they    are    scared    
the    items    would    be    not    deemed    sellable    after    use.    But    you    can    buy    your    trekking    
gear    in    Kathmandu    at    moderate    prices.    We    have    a    few    partnered    shops    where    
you    can    buy    your    gear.     Normal        price    range    for    a    sleeping    bag    on    rent    is    NPR    
100-150    per    day    (    depending    on    the    shop    )    and    NPR    4000-5000    as    deposit    of    the    
bag.    
The    rent    price    for    a    Sleeping    bag    is    around    100    NPR    per    day    and    you    will    have    to    
pay    a    deposit    of    around    4000-5000    NPR    depending    upon    the    shop    you    buy    your    
gear    from.    

That    very    much    depends    on    how    much    use    you    intend    to    get    out    of    it.    Reasonable    
quality    fake    gear    is    available    in    Kathmandu    and    Pokhara    for    a    fraction    of    the    
price    of    the    real    price– be    aware    that    standards    are    lower,    so    a    -30°C    rated    
sleeping    bag    will    only    be    good    for    -20°C,    a    900    fill    down    jacket    is    more    likely    to    
be    700    fill,    etcetera.    
There    are    also    high    end    trekking    gear    equipment    shops    available    in    Kathmandu    
like    North    Face,    Black    Yak    etc    which    are    pretty    expensive.    As    said    this    all    
depends    on    your    budget    and    if    you    are    likely    to    use    the    gear    in    the    future    or    not.    
But    generally    speaking,    the    secondary    trekking    market    gear    in    Kathmandu    is    
good    enough    and    with    the    help    of    our    local    presence,    we    can    show    you    a    few    
shops    who    have    authentic    gear    available.

necessary    for    the    trek    as    the    quilts    and    blankets    provided    by    the    tea    houses    will

The    porter    will    carry    10    kg    weight    per    person.    So    it    is    advisable    to    bring    a    small

In    case    you    fall    sick    and    are    disturbed    by    Altitude    sickness,    the first    thing    you    
need    to    let    know    your    trek    guide    about    your    symptoms.    If    the    symptoms    are    
mild,    you    can    take    a    few    medications    and    rest    which    should    alleviate    the    
problem.    If    the    symptoms    are    severe    and    you    think    that    you    cannot    complete    the    
trek    and    need helicopter    evacuation,    you    need    to    inform    your    trek    supervisor    
about    this    and    your    guide    as    well.    Then    you    need    to    contact    your    Insurance    
provider    quoting    your    policy    no    and    letting    them    know    about    your    situation.    So    
it    is    necessary    that    you    have    the    contact    nos    of    your    insurance    provider    and    your    
policy    no    always    at    your    disposal    for    your    quick    access.    It    is    also    handy    to    have

and    for    unforeseen    events    during    the    trek.    
Also,    bring    cash    to    tip    your    porters    and    guide    at    the    end    of    the    trek.    You    probably    
won’t    see    your    porters    and    guide    after    you    leave    Lukla    and    head    back    to    
Kathmandu    so    you    will    want    to    have    cash    ready    for    tipping.

Yes,    but    most    trekkers    don’t    take    them    and    you    wont    bother    taking    them    in    
freezing    temperatures. Everyone    smells    together    on    the    trek    so    don’t    worry.
